ABOUT

Laura Wilson Architects is a small residential practice based in Melbourne’s inner north-west, focused on thoughtful, well-crafted buildings. As a Certified Passive House Designer, Laura creates architecture that is considered, creative and environmentally responsive—prioritising sustainability, comfort and low energy performance.

With 25 years’ experience, Laura brings a deep understanding of residential design and a genuine curiosity about how people live and work. Her work is driven by the belief that great architecture should be readily accessible to everyday people because it can meaningfully improve everyday life.

As a small practice, Laura leads every project from start to finish, taking on a limited number each year to ensure care, clarity and attention to detail throughout.

Laura established the practice in 2016, following a decade at highly regarded Melbourne firm, Clarke Hopkins Clarke and earlier experience in Melbourne and London. She graduated with Honours from the University of Melbourne in 2002 and became a registered architect in Victoria in 2004.

The practice specialises in new homes, renovations and extensions, with particular strength and interest in compact, inner-suburban sites. Laura is known for creating calm, efficient spaces that maximise light, amenity and spatial quality—often proving that less can be more.

A clear and considered communicator, Laura works closely with clients to understand their needs and priorities. This collaborative approach leads to tailored, well-resolved outcomes and strong client relationships.

Laura Wilson Architects provides a full architectural service, from concept design through to construction, delivering responsive and enduring design outcomes.

LWA offers full architectural services from Feasibility and Pre-Design to Schematic Design, Design Development, Town Planning, Contract Documentation, Tender and Contract Administration. Laura derives a particular joy and satisfaction at witnessing designs come to life on site and working with builders to achieve a high quality design outcome.

Based in Ascot Vale, the practice works across Melbourne’s inner north, west and beyond, with extensive experience navigating local councils including Moonee Valley, City of Yarra and the City of Port Phillip. LWA has worked on many projects in inner Melbourne suburbs such as Ascot Vale, Flemington, Moonee Ponds, Fitzroy, Alphington, Fairfield, Brunswick, Balaclava, South Yarra and Malvern.

This website shows a small selection of LWA’s built work. There are many other projects underway at different stages; on the drawing board or on site.
