ABOUT
Laura Wilson Architects thrives as a small residential practice located in Melbourne’s inner north-west. As a Passive House Designer Certified Designer, LWA is committed to creating beautiful, considered, healthy, sustainable and low energy architecture. Laura has over two decades of industry experience and an enduring passion and curiosity for residential architecture and its ability to positively impact inhabitants’ day to day lives. As a sole practitioner, Laura designs and oversees every project from inception to completion, only working on a select few each year.
Laura embarked on the path of sole practice in 2016, following a decade-long tenure at a large Melbourne practice, preceded by early and formative experience in Melbourne and London. She graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2002 honours in Architecture. Laura became a registered Architect in Victoria in 2004.
Laura’s mission is to create beautiful, purposeful and environmentally responsive architecture, specialising in new homes, renovations and extensions. Laura enjoys every part of the design and problem solving process that each project brings and thrives on creating joyful and practical architecture that is underpinned by a solid and practical grasp of optimising space, light, and amenity in compact, often inner suburban settings.
Laura is a clear communicator and listens carefully to clients, seeking to understand their lifestyle, individual needs and the reasons driving them to build or renovate. She highly values a strong client-architect relationship. The briefing and design process involves a discerning evaluation of spatial requirements, sometimes resulting in a smaller building footprint than was expected. Bigger is not always better!
LWA is committed to delivering thoughtful and highly responsive outcomes, offering comprehensive architectural services that span from conceptual design through construction documentation and building construction.
LWA is based in Ascot Vale and has worked on many projects in the local areas of Flemington, Moonee Ponds, Ascot Vale and Travancore, as well as other inner city suburbs such as Fitzroy North, Fairfield, Alphington and Balaclava. Laura is adept at liaising with the related councils of City of Yarra, Moonee Valley City Council and the City of Port Phillip.
LWA respectfully acknowledges the traditional Custodians of the land, the Wurundjeri people as the original place makers of this land and their care and knowledge of Country and culture.
