Laura Wilson Architects respectfully acknowledges the traditional Custodians of the land, the Wurundjeri people as the original place makers and caretakers of this land.
The Bloomfield House extension for a family of five is modest in size but dramatically transforms the usability and flexibility of the spaces. A carefully considered 75sqm was added to a Victorian double fronted weatherboard; an additional bedroom and ensuite and larger living and dining areas, achieving the required four bedrooms, two bathrooms and study.
It is an exemplar of a considered living experience where all the features of contemporary family life can still exist within a tighter and flexible spatial configuration. Space can be simply reconfigured day to day to adjust to the family’s needs, whilst providing diversity in the communal areas for members of the family to read, socialise, paint, cook, retreat and relax, all whilst being connected to the native garden and northern aspect of the block.

This project involved a major contemporary addition to a red brick 1920's house. The driving factors were space and light, resulting in a double storey overhanging box with a morning courtyard, an afternoon courtyard and an all day roof terrace; an inner suburban oasis for its inhabitants.

Documented, awaiting construction.
This project entails a first floor extension to a Californian Bungalow within a strict heritage overlay. It is a contemporary modern box which fits snugs behind the existing roof line and connects to the ground with a pergola at the rear.
